Food For The Soul

Due to some technical difficulties we are day late on the blog so here is a summary to catch you up:
Yesterday was nothing short of amazing. Our painting jobs hit full speed with two rooms to finish before today. For time's sake I'll just highlight the best part of the day and arguably some of the best moments in Belize.. BIKE DAY!! Remember that story your parents would tell you about "walking to school up hill booth ways with no shoes"? Well, this is a reality for some kids in our sweet village. Which brings us right back to bike day, and let me assure you the excitement was at an all time high! I hope that everyone in their life gets to experience and feel something as incredible as watching a child who walks 2 miles to and from school get a bike. Our congregation should be so proud of the contributions and bike ministry.

Our last day in Los Tambos.. How can that be?
We started our morning with pancakes, eggs, and 90 degree weather. We packed up the van and headed to our village for the last time. Nothing beats pulling the van up and twenty kids just waiting to jump all over you! On the last day as you feel those sweet arms embrace you the second you walk off the van you think, "how can I even go one year without this?!". The morning was full of work as we finished painting every room in the school. As the afternoon was upon us it was time for our last celebration together the community party. All the families dressed in their best come pulling in just to say goodbye to us and watch the program the children have prepared for us. The program was so beautiful as always and not a single team member left with a dry eye. We were presented with shirts that have the kids picture in front of the school with the words "I Am The Hope of Belize". It is so fitting because that is truly what we believe. Our dedication to Los Tambos school and the education program is grounded in those six words. The chairman of the village spent 200 dollars Belize to buy us these shirts... Let that sink in. These selfless acts mean more to our team than we could even put into to words. As we finish the community party passing out dresses, clothes, and peanut butter sandwiches our souls are being fed. They are fed by the compassion the village has for our team, it is fed by the love of sweet faces and hugs, it is fed in the form of peanut butter sandwiches, it is fed by the relationships and friendships we've built over the years, and it was fed by the love of our Father that picked us to go out of our comfort zone and serve. Another year in Los Tambos has come and gone but that only makes us excited for next year. Our souls have been fed for another year. Praise God!
